Yesterday was Valentine's Day. We don't really celebrate it in our house since Roosevelt sanctioned it in America to increase spending between Christmas and Easter, but we do take time to say I love you to each other. My students on the other hand go overboard and are the sweetest things sometimes. One of my former students brought all of his current teachers roses and brought Ms. Atkinson and I roses as well (not sucking up, just a very well raised and nice boy). Students also brought us cupcakes out the wazoo. I'm going to have to work out twice as hard this weekend to make up for it. Mabry earned her first two petals in Daisy Scouts on Tuesday. she earned her light green petal for using resources wisely and her pink petal for being a sister to all girl scouts. This Tuesday is their induction ceremony where they will be pinned and receive their induction certificates. Mr. Stevenson, our guidance counselor, has graciously agreed to watch my class for the last fifteen minutes of school on Tuesday so that I will be able to be there. Isn't he awesome? I have misplaced Mabry's petals, but am hoping to locate them this weekend. When I do, I am going to take a video of Mabry singing "I'm a Little Daisy Scout" for the blog. It is absolutely adorable and makes me cry tears of laughter whenever I catch her singing it.
some of you got my e-mail about prayer requests for one of Mabry's schoolmates who has been battling leukemia for the past two years. Bradley received a bone marrow transplant on Wednesday and is recovering. His body did not reject the marrow immediately, so we are all praying for great results. he will be living at St. Jude's for the next several weeks since his immune system is so compromised. Please keep him in your prayers that this bone marrow transplant will work. I can't imagine my children having to go through what this little boy has gone through. but seeing how the school and community have rallied around this boy and his family makes me proud to be here in north Mississippi. I can't imagine having a better support system for this family.
